Ukraine Presentations Reflection
Maria Foubelo
The Ukraine presentation has been my favorite one so far. It was definitively a learning experience and also sad at the same time. Doing the research and having to read and watch what is happening currently in Ukraine was truly devastating. All those people having to suffer because of the actions of an inconsiderate person is not fair. As someone from the outside, you feel bad for them but you don't really know how they feel. When you get to read and watch interviews with people who are living that reality it shocks you and makes you be grateful for what you have and for the place that you live. All groups and members of the groups did amazing in presenting the information. You could tell that everyone took time and did research to find the most credible information possible. In all honesty, my favorite group was mine which was group two. I believe that all of us did a good job in presenting the information. I also liked the topic that we got which was about education for both college and grade school students. The current situation in Ukraine keeps getting worse as time passes by and all those families who have lost everything and have had to leave their lives behind and everything on their own and start completely new in countries where they probably do not know anyone and don't speak the language. Kids have lost their parents and parents have lost their kids. When you see things like that it makes you be thankful that you still have your family with you because most of those people have lost theirs. It also makes you realize that materialistic things don't truly matter. Those things come and go but your family will not. I could never imagine what those people feel having to hear bombs go off every second of the day. Having to hide in shelters and not know if you are going to live to see another day. It is a scary situation to be in that they sadly have to face every day for the last half a year. To me this war feels more personal than to other people in a way because my grandma has told me stories of her friends that she has in Ukraine and even though she is Russian she does not support her country's actions whatsoever. She is truly heartbroken and hearing her stories makes me so sad because from one the to the other the people of Ukraine went from having normal lives and having fun. To have to leave their country and hide in shelters to make sure that they do not get killed. They have to be on high alert every day. They never truly thought that this would be the reality that they have to liveThat is why this presentation was one of my favorites and one I will not forget. It made me appreciate everything that I have because one day I might lose it all and nothing will ever be the same again.
Very good!!!
