Group Communications
What I liked about Group one's presentation is how they discussed how
people from different cultures interact and communicate with each other. And
they did a good job with presenting it by using both pictures, and videos on
each slide that gave good examples on intercultural communication. I also liked
how Group one talked about how each culture has their own beliefs, identity and
standards each culture lives by. I was even more interested that a person's
Native Language can heavily influence communications, and that many immigrants
still prefer speaking their native tongue even after learning English. What I
liked about my group's presentation is how we all explored throughout our
slides communication within different groups. Such as Families, Social Groups,
Support Groups, Interest Groups, Service Groups, Work Groups and Teams and
Virtual Groups. What I mainly enjoyed going into this project with my group is
how we put all three slides together to make one power point presentation, and
the way we organized it and presented it with three slides for each person
who’s in our group, and how they discussed the different types of groups by
either keeping simple, or going into further detail. I liked how Group three went
into detail when discussing Group Leadership and Problem Solving, and how they
explain how the leader of the group influences the people around them to
achieve their goal. My favorite part about group three’s presentation is when
one slide talks about, in length, how a group leader should follow a set of
guidelines for the meetings, Before, During and After the meeting. What I liked
most about all three group presentations is the collaboration that went into
all three power point presentation, I mainly liked how we choose to go into
further explanation about our topics by using either text, or videos along with
images that relate to our subject. Overall,
looking back on these presentations as a whole I believe that they all went well
for everybody and we all did an amazing job. If I was asked “What would I
changed about the presentation?” I would say I’d add an additional slide to add
in an extra layer to our presentation’s topic. In addition I also liked the
leadership that was demonstrated throughout the whole process, not just for my
group, but I could sense it coming from the groups while they were presenting
and it made me feel like there was someone taking charge, but most importantly
there was someone guiding us throughout all of it. I also believe that all
three groups have one thing in common, and that’s collaboration and you can see
it in the presentations that everyone was on the same page on how to do this,
on how to present and you can sense the harmony in everybody’s work. I would emphasize
that each group has their own unique strengths, that makes their own
presentations work and stand on their own, but the most important trait, for me
personally with my group, is all about communication. And that’s what I love most coming from, not
just my group, but from the other groups as well. Weather we were communicating
through group chats, via circleln or in breakout rooms on blackboard, we
communicated effectively and came to an agreement on how to approach the project.
What I liked about Group two’s topic is how we discussed the different groups by
going into detail about how the types of groups, and managing group conflict.
We talked about service groups, people who perform charitable task and raise
money for organizations, and then we have work groups and teams that is
generally just a work group of people that’s gathered to complete a task, and
virtual groups, people who take part in online discussions without having to
meet face-to-face. As I reflect upon our group project and how well we all did,
I like to say that working with others on assignments like this is productive
and worthwhile. Another thing that I like about our group presentation is when
we discussed group conflicts and how it is inevitable, and to be excepted, in
group interactions which is also relevant to any other group. In addition, I found it interesting when
Group 3 presented their slides on Leadership, one that stuck with me is that
one of the many shared leadership roles in a group is to manage conflict among
their member, and if it’s managed properly it can actually be beneficial to the
group and their common goal. In group one, when talking about intercultural
communications, I like how they brought up the fact when it comes to
Intercultural communication there are challenges between people whose cultures
are different, and I feel like that’s important to know, especially when we
meet someone from a different part of the world. Moreover, Group one also
explains co-culture, where people within their large cultures who hold the same
values, standards and beliefs differ, and sometimes it influences communication.
An important lesson I learned while going into the presentation is that
communication is essential in life, weather you’re from a different country, on
a virtual meeting or if you’re a group leader learning how to manage conflict
among your peers, the most important thing we can do is to communicate! Because
it will be beneficial to all of us later on in our professional lives, and it
will also play an even bigger role to help us get ahead in life and succeed. In
conclusion, the group presentations were productive, insightful and very educational,
if I could do it all over again I would, and at the bottom of it all our
presentations serve to remind us the importance of communicating with each, as
well as the many forms it takes from cultural to virtual to leadership. In the
end I loved everything there was to about each groups presentation and how I
hope we continue to work on more projects like these in the very near future.
Very good!
